Assam records single-day highest of 30 COVID-19 deaths

GUWAHATI: Assam recorded single-day highest of 30 COVID-19 deaths today, taking the death toll to 1,360, while 2,385 fresh cases pushed the tally in the state to 2,58,961.

The deaths reported during the day include 12 from Kamrup (M), four from Barpeta, three  from Udalguri, two each from Bongaigaon, Dibrugarh and Sonitpur, and one each from Goalpara, Hojai, Jorhat, Kamrup and Tinsukia. The current death rate is 0.53 per cent.

On the other hand, the new cases include 1,099 from Kamrup (M), 181 from Tinsukia, 148 from Dibrugarh and 90 from Nagaon.

The state currently has 24,551 active COVID-19 cases.

The new cases were detected out of the 23,818 tests conducted over the past 24 hours with the positivity rate being 10.01 per cent.

The cumulative total of COVID-19 tests conducted in Assam so far is 86,82,755.

A total of 2,831 people were discharged during the day, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,31,703 with a recovery rate of 89.47 per cent.

On the other hand, a total of 25,88,228 people have been administered with COVID-19 vaccines in the state so far.

While 20,31,779 of them have received the first dose, 5,56,449 have received both the doses of the vaccine.
