Guwahati, January 23, 2020:

It is the 123rd birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and the entire nation is celebrating the day of the Freedom Fighter with great enthusiasm.

Keeping in sync with the rest of the country, Assam also widely celebrated Bose’s 123rd birth anniversary. While leaders were seen paying floral tribute to the Freedom Fighter, the common people ensured that they pay their respects to the legend.

Members of the Bengali community in Assam’s Kokrajhar took out a cultural rally with slogans hailing freedom. Hundreds of people turned up for the event. “We have organized a slew of events for the day such as hoisting the national flag, paying tribute to the leader. We have also arranged for a cultural event,” said a member of the All BTC Bengali Yuba Chhatra Federation.

Celebrated as the National Day of Patriotism, Bose’s 123rd birth anniversary saw citizens paying homage to the great leader. Residents of Moran also paid floral tribute to Bose on the anniversary.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma took to Twitter to remind the leader’s contributions to the country. He wrote, “We pay our respects to #SubhasChandraBose ji on his 123rd birth anniversary today. His patriotism was one of great valour and his legacy as a freedom fighter is forever embedded in our hearts. #SubhashChandraBoseJayanti #Netaji.”

It may be mentioned here that Netaji was born in Cuttack, Odisha on January 23,1897. He formed the Azad Hind Fauj on October 21, 1943 to fight for freedom in India. “Give me blood and I will give you freedom!” emerged as one of his most famous quotes, which has inspired people from time to time.
