Assam detected 1,856 fresh coronavirus cases on Friday 21st August 2020, the state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed. Since the first coronavirus case was detected, Assam has registered 87,908 cases.
A total of 36,180 tests were conducted in last 24 hours. The positivity rate stood at 5.12 percent. Of the 1,856 confirmed cases, maximum cases were from Kamrup (M) recording 433 cases, 150 cases in Dibrugarh, Cachar with 143 cases, and Kamrup(R) with 121 cases.

On the other hand, a total of 65,596 patients have so far discharged from different hospitals in the state.

Coronavirus cases in India crossed the 29-lakh mark with 68,898 cases reported in the country in the last 24 hours, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed on Friday.
The total number of coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 29,05,824.
