Assam reports 1973 COVID-19 cases, state total tally rises to 94,592

A total of 34,307 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in Assam. The positivity rate stood at 5.75 percent. Of the 1,973 confirmed cases, maximum cases were from Kamrup M- 510, Cachar- 149, Jorhat- 132, Kamrup (R)- 121, Dibrugarh- 116. Of the 94,592 confirmed cases, 21239 are still active and 73090 have recovered from the disease.

Informing this, the state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Alert ~ 1973 #COVID cases detected today out of 34307 tests done in last 24 hours

On the other hand, with new 1,724 new recoveries, a total of 74,814 patients have so far discharged from different hospitals in the state.

Meanwhile, the death toll has gone up to 260 with eight new deaths. The deceased are Late Usha Das (70), Late Aparna Roy (48), Late Nayana Das (21) of Kamrup M; Late Labanya Bhuyan (65) of Nalbari; Late Masfil Hussain (55) of Baksa; Late Ajay Kr Gupta (40) of K A’long; Late Jhantu Deb (46) of G’ghat, Late Bishnu Biswas (55) of Majuli.

Assam successfully completed 20 lakh tests over the past five months, taking Assam’s per million tests to 58,356 on Tuesday, 25th August.
Informing about this proud moment the health minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “ASSAM COMPLETES 20 LAKH #COVID TESTS!
