Assam reports 3 COVID-19 patients. The deceased include, Sri Ashok Jain (63) of Athgaon, Sri Vinod Kumar (47) of Jalukbari & Mrs Dipali Dutta (65) of Sarumataria admitted at GMCH succumbed to their infection today. They had severe pnuemonia & were on invasive ventilation.
Taking stock of the matter, State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.
Earlier, Assam reported four more COVID-19 deaths on July 10th, 2020 taking to the toll to 32, the state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The deceased are Rakhal Deb (42), Ramesh Kayastha (68), Sukhamay Bhowmik (72) and Arachidonic Baruah Saikia (70). They were all admitted to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).
Meanwhile, the state reported its first asymptomatic COVID-19 death. The deceased is Hareswar Nath. "He was a non-symptomatic patient with no co morbidities succumbed to COVID 19 at IITG COVID care centre.His oxygen levels plummeted to 90 within hours and he collapsed," the minister tweeted.
Assam reported five more COVID-19 related deaths on July 9th, 2020. The deceased are Bhaben Gogoi (72), at AMCH; Dhaneswar Seal (68), and Tarzuna Begum (38), at MMCH. Others are - deceased are Prosnna Kumar Haloi (70) of Beltola, Guwahati, and Ramsingh Hanse (56) of Karbi Anglong. “Both the patients, who were admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), succumbed to their critical infections this morning. Both were on invasive ventilation,” the minister tweeted.

A total of 6 persons died due to the infection on July 8th, 2020. The deceased are Safikul Rahman, 60, Hidayatpur, Guwahati; Romoni Mazumdar, 60, of Patacharkuchi in Barpeta; Utpal Kumar Chaliha, 75, Kahilipara in Guwahati and Hari Prasad Mandal, 68, of Lalganesh in Guwahati. They all were undergoing Covid19 treatment at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Meanwhile, Jitendra Prasad (30) of Majbat, Udalguri, who was admitted to the Tezpur Medical College on July 7th, 2020 with features of Septicaemia in shock with history of herbal medication, died of the infection and Monika Bhumij, 19, succumbed to the infection at Jorhat Medical College.
Assam has recorded 62.65 percent recovery rate in COVID-19 cases which is marginally higher than the national recovery rate recovery. The national recovery rate is 62.42 percent.
A total of 9147 out of 14600 have been cured and discharged in the state as on July 10th, 2020 while 4,95,513 out of 7,93,802 have been cured and discharged across the country so far.
Meanwhile, Assam currently has 5423 active COVID-19 cases, which is 37.14 percent of the total cases. The active cases rate of the state is higher than the national rate 34.85 percent.
The state reported a total of 568 COVID-19 cases on July 9th, 2020 taking the state’s total to 14,600, the state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated. Guwahati alone reported 355 cases.
Assam has crossed the 1000-mark in 60 days. It reported the first case on March 31st, 2020.
