GUWAHATI: The Assam government has decided to name the road connecting Narengi in Guwahati to Morigaon via Chandrapur after eminent litterateur and journalist Homen Borgohain, this was said by chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today.
After the new government took over, Homen Borgohain passed away following COVID-19 complications, so in his memory, the road from Chandrapur to Marigaon has been named after the eminent litterateur.
The 88-year-old Borgohain, who was a writer, journalist breathed his last at 6.58 am on May 12 at Guwahati Neurological Research Centre (GNRC) after fighting a battle against COVID-19.

Homen Borgohain who was born on 7 December 1932, in Dhakuakhana was working as the editor-in-chief of Assamese daily Niyomiya Barta.
Borgohain was also the president of the apex literary body Assam Sahitya Sabha.
Borgohain was awarded the 1978 Sahitya Akademi Award in the Assamese language for his novel Pita Putra.
He also wrote several novels, short stories, and poetry.
