Former MP Dr. Joyasree Goswami Mahanta will be awarded the 'Sahitya Akademi Award' for her popular book 'Chanakya', reports said.
Now, the 'Padma Shri' awardee has announced to donate the award money to the kin of the martyrs of the agitation against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.

Dr. Joyasree Goswami Mahanta is the wife of former Chief Minister of Assam, Prafulla Kumar Mahanta. Apart from ‘Chanakya’ her other books have also been awarded many state awards. Her books have also been translated to Hindi, Marathi and Bodo language.
On the other hand, Indian politician, writer, and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor is to be awarded the 'Sahitya Akademi Award 2019' for his book “An Era of Darkness: The British Empire in India”.
The Award ceremony will be held in the month of February in New Delhi. The Sahitya Akademi Award composes a memento with award money of Rs 1 lakh
