GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that Assam schools and colleges are likely to open from September 1 if the COVID-19 positivity rate declines in the state.
He said the government was waiting for the positivity rate to come down to 500 per day. At present, the state has a positivity rate of 700 daily.
He also said only those students who are vaccinated would be allowed to stay in the hostels.

He also urged the Assam schools and college students, teachers, and professors to get vaccinated as soon as possible so that the educational institutes can be opened.
He said the government is going to decide on physical education classes for degree the third year, post-graduation final year, and Class X students soon.
