GUWAHATI: Severe lapse in security in Assam's Secretariat has taken the state by storm as the vehicle of Phani Bhushan Choudhury, an 8-time legislator from Bongaigaon, got stolen from the campus bypassing all the security bastions yesterday.
The incident came to light after the stolen Innova car met with an accident in the Numaligarh area. The Dispur Police have arrested three in connection with the case, confirmed Jugananda Boro, second Officer-in-Charge of Dispur Police Station.
The accused have been identified as Harez Ali, Safiqul Ahmed and Ariful Ali.

However, MLA Choudhury has rubbished the reports about his stolen vehicle from Secretariat that have been doing the rounds since morning.
Talking to InsideNE, Choudhury said, "None of my vehicles has been stolen from the Secretariat. I do not know from where it arose, but this report is not true."
Himangshu Das, Assistant Commissioner of Police(ACP), Dispur has informed InsideNE that though the car was technically not owned by Choudhury, the car was used for his service.
"The driver of the vehicle is suspected to be involved in the incident," informed the ACP.
