Assam: Section 144 CrPC Clamped near Firing Range in Hailakandi

Hailakandi, March 17, 2020:

Section 144 has been imposed in Assam's Hailakandi district from 6 AM to 4 PM on Wednesday and Thursday to ensure smooth firing practice by personnel of A-Coy 147 Battalion.

"Section 144 CrPC will be in force at the District Firing Range located at Serispore Tea Estate under Panchgram Police Station on Wednesday and Thursday," read a release.

The district administration has decided to clamp Section 144 within a radius of 500 metres of the firing range as a preventive measure to ensure that no person enters during firing practice by personnel of A-Coy 147 Battalion.

Section 144 will be in force from 6 am to 4 pm in the said area on those days. An order to this effect was issued by Additional District Magistrate RK Dam on Monday.
