DHUBRI: The Dhubri District Magistrate on Thursday imposed section 144 in the district in order to prevent the entry of foreign nationals from across the border.
The magistrate also imposed the order to maintain peace along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
According to official statement, the order will be effective from today till further notice.
The order restricts movement of people and vehicles within 500 meters belt of the Assam-West Bengal inter-state border and Indo-Bangla border from 8 pm to 5 am.

The prohibitory order also applies to vehicles carrying goods that illegally cross the Assam-West Bengal border through alternate routes by evading tax officials.
However, this order shall not apply to the law-enforcing authorities such as magistrates, police personnel, home guards, forest and customs officials and B.S.F. personnel.
Persons and vehicles travelling on national highway 31 and railway employees in track patrolling duty in different areas will also be exempted from the restrictions under this order.
The order shall also not be applicable for patients who need to move through the prohibited area for immediate medical treatment.
