Assam is all set to bid adieu to its martyr son Maneswar Basumatary with all the rituals and offering for the last time on Saturday.

The body of Maneswar Basumatary will be brought to the state by a special aircraft of the Indian Army. The first salute to the departed soul of the CRPF will be offered at BorjHar’s Air Force base.

Earlier the body was to be brought by an Indigo Flight which has been canceled later.

According to the officials, the body was about to reach at 2 pm but has been delayed till 4 pm in the evening as the aircraft will carry the bodies of other jawans as well who were martyred in the Pulwama terrorist attack. The aircraft will first land in Rachi, then Patna, Kolkata and lastly at Assam. The body will be taken to Tamulpur at around 4:15 pm after paying the tribute by the authorities.

In Borjhar, the Chief Secretary of Assam, Alok Verma and Director General of Police, Kuladhar Saikia will pay tribute at the Air Force base.

There has been a tight security arrangement for the entire programme. Only selected media has been allowed for coverage of the programme.

Meanwhile, in Tamulpur, the locals along with the administrations have set the site for his funeral in the land he was born. The rituals of the funeral will be performed as per the Bodo rituals.
