Assam Singer Commits Suicide, Lover Taken in for Questioning

Guwahati, August 7, 2019:

In a sensational incident, a budding singer from Assam, Karabi Das, committed suicide in Guwahati city of Assam on Wednesday. As per reports, she committed suicide at her boyfriend's rented apartment in Srimantapur of the city.

She was found hanging from a ceiling fan. As per reports, she had come to the rented house yesterday in the evening. Her boyfriend, Rituparna Das, has been taken into police custody. It is to be mentioned that Karabi Das resided in Hatigaon area of Guwahati city.

The cause behind her suicide is yet to be ascertained, however, it has been alleged that  she could have committed suicide because of some troubles in her relationship. Moreover, residents of the building have alleged that quarrels were common between the couple.

Speaking to Inside Northeast, Assam Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar said: "The body of the singer was found at Srimantapur in rhe Bhangagarh area of Guwahati metro in House no. 19. Now, the body has been taken to the hospital for post-mortem. Moreover, a suicide note has been recovered from the premises. The boyfriend has been taken in for questioning.."

"There is an atmosphere of doom and gloom here. This incident has created sensation in the area", said a local resident, on condition of anonymity.
