After the sensational incident occurred in Rupai Saiding of Tinsukia district on Friday at around 7.15 p.m in the evening. Two miscreants identifying themselves as ULFA (I) holding guns in their hand demanded money from an employee of a shop. When the employee refused to hand over the money he is being shot dead along with a customer standing in the shop.
The employee identified as Jeet Verma (47), while the identity of the customer is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, the police apprehended one miscreant named Rupantor Moran (25) S/o Shri Juneswar Moran of Jokaichuk, his associate Montu Moran, (21) S/o Shri Pradip Moran of Jokaichuk.
The police also apprehended five more miscreants relating indirectly to the case named Niranta Baruah, (36), S/o Shri Someswar Baruah of Kordoiguri, Ramesh Mahanta, (38) S/o Shri Kamal Ch Mahanta of No.1 Kakopather, Bijoy Verma, (41) S/o Late Prabhu Dayal Verma of Talap, Khitish Baruah, (36) S/o Late Thaneswar Baruah of Dayel Gaon, Mrs. Dipali Saikia (32) W/o Shri Bipul Saikia of Sadiya.
Tinsukia Superintendent of Police, Mugdhajyoti Mahanta has told that the miscreants are not members of ULFA(I) but petty criminals who were earlier arrested in robbery cases. Bijoy Verma provided the arms to Rupantor and Montu who played the main role against the killing just to cover up his unlawful activities.
Two pistols with five rounds of arms and cell phones were recovered from them. All the miscreants involved directly or indirectly were arrested.
