Assam son Riyan Parag made the North-East proud on Thursday when he made his Indian Premiere League (IPL) debut against idol Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings in the showpiece event.
Representing the Rajasthan Royals team, Riyan contributed sixteen valuable runs with the bat and bowled three miserly overs (by T-20) standards where he conceded just 24 runs.
The boys from Rajasthan scored 151/7 in their allotted 20 overs, which was overhauled by the Chennai outfit in the last over of the innings.
It may be mentioned that the 17-year-old Riyan Parag, who is one of India’s most exciting young prospects in the cricketing arena, was the leading run-scorer for Assam in the 2018-2019 in the Vijay Hazare trophy with 248 runs in seven matches.
