Assam State Govt announces Rs 20 lakh Ex-Gratia to family of Martyr Maneswar Basumatary

Guwahati, February 15, 2019:

As the family of martyred jawan Maneswar Basumatary tries to recover from the wound inflicted from his passing, the Sarbananda Sonowal-led BJP administration has announced a sum of Rs. 20 lakh to be handed over to the jawan’s kin. The Chief Minister has confirmed this on social networking site Twitter.

Basumatary, head-constable of the CRPF’s 98th Battalion, was martyred when a Jaish-e-Mohammed militant rammed an explosive-laden SUV into a CRPF convoy bus heading to Srinagar. Basumatary was one of 42 CRPF personnel who was martyred in the dastardly attack. There were altogether 78 vehicles carrying 2,548 CRPF jawans in the convoy.
