Health Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sharma congratulated all the heroes on duty associated with the fight against COVID-19. Taking stock of the matter, he said on Twitter, "My congratulations to behind-the-curtain COVIDHeroes - our lab technicians, scientists, microbiology faculty of medical colleges, & team RMRC Lahowal who make extraordinary efforts to make this happen".

The minister also shared the data related to the test conducted in various centres in Assam so far.
"In a strong testimony to excellent team work and our steely resolve to do the best in a crisis like #COVID19, I am humbled to share that #Assam has carried out 55862 tests so far. This is higher than Kerala's (52771), a state known for its healthcare excellence." - he further tweeted.

So far, with 4 fresh cases reported in Assam, the state tally has gone up to 350 on May 23, 2020. Of the 4 cases, 2 are from Chirang at Tezpur quarantine centre and 2 from Jorhat with travel history to Chennai.
With these cases, Assam registered a total of 87 cases on May 23, 2020, alone.
On May 22, 2020, the state witnessed a massive spike in positive coronavirus cases with 49 new cases reported. On yesterday evening, 26 people quarantined at Sarusajai Quarantine Centre were tested positive for the virus.
Assam has reported 23 cases on May 21, 2020 taking the total over 200. The state has registered its second 100 cases in just four days while there were just 100 cases on May 17, 2020. Most of the cases have a travel history.
