New Delhi, January 6, 2018:

Mrinal Borah, a student from Assam currently studying in New Delhi, was beaten up by suspected Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) members during a brutal attack at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

The JNU students have alleged that ABVP goons have gone on a rampage inside the campus, beating up students with iron rods, stones and weapons.

Twitter user Rana Ayyub writes: "Am outside JNU. ABVP students shouting 'Desh ke gaddaron ko, goli maaro saalon ko'."

According to some students, the people are being beaten while the cops are watching on like mere spectators.

Earlier, JNU student leader Aishe Ghosh too was brutally attacked. Pictures of the student leader bleeding profusely are now doing the rounds on social media. Ghosh has informed that she had been brutally attacked by masked goons.

Now, the students of JNU are assembling outside the main gate to stop the "reign of terror" supposedly unleased by the ABVP, the student arm of the BJP.

These events are happening in the midst of nationwide protests which have been triggered after the passing of the Citizenship Amendment Act by the BJP-led Parliament.

The students of JNU too have been participating in the protests, and recently, they carried out processions demanding the release of Assam peasant leader Akhil Gogoi and others, who have been arrested amisdt the protests, which initially began in the Northeast Indian States.
