Assam students’ body fires salvo at govt, OIL over Baghjan blowout

The All Assam Students Union(AASU) accused the state government and OIL authority of not initiating appropriate and urgent measures to control the Baghjan fire that caught following a blast at the BGR 5 well on June 9th, 2020. The students union urged concerned authorities to take strong steps to stop the Baghjan incident.

President of AASU Dipanka Kumar Nath today visited Saben Roy's house at Salakati in Kokrajhar district, Assam to take stock of the health condition of Roy, who was former organising secretary of the students union.

Nath was accompanied by assistant general secretary Nabajyoti Roy during his visit to Roy’s resident and took stock about the health condition of ailing Roy. Roy was associated with AASU for several years from Kokrajhar district besides becoming became organising secretary of AASU and ailing since a few months ago. He is now under treatment at his own resident. Nath wished good health of Roy and get-well-soon from his ailments, said that the students union will extend medical treatment support him for early recovery.

AASU president Nath has condemned the unwanted situations arises in the state like mob lynching, killing incidents, and demanded strict measures against the incidents in the state. He has urged the state government to take bold steps against the mob lynching cases which have been taking place across the state.

Nath has reacted strongly over the Baghjan incident and blamed state government and OIL authority for not initiating good measures when it was gas leaked. He has put the demand for strict steps to stop the incidents immediately and make safe and safety of the common masses as well as wildlife in the region.
