Guwahati, December 27, 2019:

Former Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi, downplaying the chances of the BJP party winning the 2021 elections, cited the examples of Maharashtra and Jharkhand as proof that the "bad days" of BJP are here.

"How will they win? Just look at Maharashtra...Jharkhand. The bad days of the BJP party are here. This is false propaganda. Forget winning 100 seats, even Modi's credibility is on the wane. The won piggybacking on Modi's back, not due to Sonowal or teen-numberi (third-grade) Himanta."

Piling on, senior party leader Rockybul Hussain said that the Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das had also expressed confidence of winning 81 out of 81 seats. How can they be so sure that they will win a 100 seats? Maybe if they scrap the CAA. Otherside, no chance.."

Butting in, Tarun Gogoi said, "If they are so sure about it, let them prove it...we demand a referendum. We demand they prove their claims within 6 months."

The Congress leaders made these comments while reacting to Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's remarks that the BJP will win 100 seats in the 2021 Assembly polls and re-form the Government in the state.

It may be mentioned here that Gogoi's comments came on the eve of Congress President Rahul Gandhi's visit to Guwahati tomorrow, where he is expected to lead a protest against the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act at the Veterinary field in Khanapara.
