Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Saturday former chief minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi said that the state had never witnessed crime against women like this before. He also said that 50 percent of the total population in the state today are not safe. The Home Ministry has miserably failed in this aspect. The octogenarian leader demanded that crime against women should be stopped soon and strict laws should be implemented. He also appealed to constitute a separate department appoint a top police official of ADGP rank to tackle crime against women which is on a rise in the state.
The three times chief minister also said that protests are staged for setting up of universities but during the regime of this government there have been protest to keep a university alive.
