GUWAHATI: Even as veteran Congress leader from Assam Tarun Gogoi continues to battle for his life, his daughter Chandrima Gogoi and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Colebourn reached the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in the evening hours of Sunday, November 22.

A source told Inside Northeast that the duo have reached to hospital to inquire about his health as he was put on intubation and ventilator due to deterioration in his health condition.

"Gogoi's condition remains the same as yesterday. There is no further deterioration in his health, according to the doctors monitoring his health," the source further informed.

Three-time former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi's health condition remains "critical". The veteran has been battling post-Covid health complications for a month now. Earlier today, there were some positive signs like "spontaneous eye opening", the GMCH superintendent Abhijit Sarma said today.

It needs mention here that the 86-year-old veteran Congress leader had become "completely unconscious" on Saturday afternoon after difficulty in breathing, Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, adding that he had also suffered multiple organ failure.

Gogoi had tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease on August 25 and was admitted to the GMCH for two months. Although he tested 'negative' for the virus, the veteran has been in and out of the hospital as he suffers from post-COVID complications.
