Assam: Three NSCN cadres apprehended from tea estate in Charaideo

Charaideo: In joint operation of Assam Rifles and Assam police, three cadres of the banned National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) were apprehended in Bajlijan tea estate in Charaideo district of Assam.

The cadres have been identified as Tinglung Kanyak, Nokeyank Kanyak and Yanu Kanyak. They are suspected be involved in arms smuggling. Police has recovered three pistols along with live ammunitions from the possession of the cadres.

Here's what the police said about NSCN cadres

Sudhakar Das, Superintendent of Police of Charaideo district has said, “A case has been registered in the Sonari Police station under section 25 (1A) and section 35 of the Arms Act. We suspect that they are involved in inter-state arms smuggling.”

The interrogation of the three NSCN cadres is underway.
