Assam: Tinsukia BJP Condemns Pradyut Bordoloi for Comments on CM Sonowalassam

Tinsukia, October 3, 2019:

The Tinsukia unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday lashed out at Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi over his recent allegations of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal being a part of the coal syndicate.

BJP Spokesperson Subhash Dutta chastised the Congress MP for his remarks, and accused him of corrupt practices when he was an MLA from Margherita. "He (Bordoloi) had committed grave sins in the last 17 years. Where is Prasanna Baruah’s wife? She is still missing. He clearly said that if open crust mining isn’t done, the coal will not be commercially viable. He was in support of what he stood against earlier. Back then, when local journalists raised this issue, they were harassed", Dutta said.

Talking about the BJP's crackdowns against corruption, Dutta said, "26 cases have been filed over Supari Syndicate issue and 63 trucks have been seized. 39 people, along with 5 lakh kilos of Supari, were arrested, after Sarbananda Sonowal took charge as Assam Chief Minister. 844 cattle smugglers were arrested, 598 cases have been lodged in several police stations across Assam and 184 vehicles and 9,599 cows were recovered in this case.

In his latest statement, Bordoloi has accused local journos of being involved in the coal syndicate in Assam’s Tinsukia district. “I don’t want to take names but there are one-two journalists in Ledo and Margherita who take contract to suppress the death incidents of workers in rathole mines. They charge Rs. 1 lakh in exchange of hiding each death incident,” he said.
