The ignominy of an ‘on duty’ top ranking officer from Kamrup (m) district administration has sent shocking waves among the people of Assam.
The officer is seen insulting the first citizen of the country in the video. The incident goes back to October 16, when the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi landed at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
When the CJI was heading for the Guard of Honour, the influential officer in question was caught in the camera saying “Heitu ahise, Bandha kori de, boja boja boja”.
The whole incident captured on the mobile phone of an unknown person was uploaded on the social media which soon the video went viral.
This is not the first time that the CJI has been mortified in his own homeland.
On October 17, the CJI was made to wait for about half an hour to offer prayers at the Kamakhya temple. The Government of Assam eventually suspended the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Guwahati (West) Bhanwar Lal Meena and Additional Deputy Commissioner Kamrup (Metro) Prasanta Pratim Kathkatia for lapse in security arrangement and crowd mismanagement.

It may be mentioned that the Union Home Ministry on October 11, through an WT message, had informed the Chief Secretary of Assam about the visit of the CJI Ranjan Gogoi. The Assam government on October 12 forwarded the message to all concerned officials. Unfortunately, the district administration failed to make proper arrangements for the CJI.
Now, it is to be seen whether the state government will take necessary action against the ‘manner less’ officer too, as it was done with the other officials?
