ASSAM: TWO KLO MILITANTS APPREHENDED

Two militants of the Kamatapur Liberation Organisation were apprehended in a joint operation by the Army, Kokrajhar Police and the Cobra unit of the CRPF  on the intervening nights of July 14 and 15.

The rebels, identified as Krishna Barman alias Manoj Koch and Sambaru Barman alias Khudu, were recruited in December 2016 and were a part of the outfit’s Serfanguri section. The duo was involved in extortion and motivating youth to join the KLO.

The police said the two insurgents were arrested following a brief challenge. “The team suspected them as militants and challenged them and on being challenged, they started to flee but the team somehow managed to nab them soon after. Two country-made pistols and four live cartridges were recovered from their possession. Further interrogation is on,” the police said.
