Assam: Two NDFB (S) militants apprehended

25 July 2018:

Two NDFB (Songbijit) militants, including an overground worker of the outfit, were apprehended by the Army and the police in a joint operation in Kokrajhar late Tuesday night.

The operation was launched following receipt of intelligence inputs about the presence of militants on the edges of Ripu Reserve Forest near Saralbhanga river.

The arrested militants were later identified as Dikum Basumatary alias self-styled “sergeant” Dehrasat and Jibiar Basumatary, an overground worker of the outfit.

The personnel seized one foreign-made pistol, one country-made pistol and nine live cartridges from the rebels’ possession. They were involved in subversive activities including extortions and motivating youth to join the NDFB (S).
