Assam: Two Suspected NDFB Militants Killed in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar, November 1, 2019:

Two suspected cadres of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) were killed in an encounter along the Indo- Bhutan border in Assam’s Kokrajhar district.

Based on intelligence input about the movement of some extremist cadres in Soraibil BOP area, the Assam Police and Border Security Forces (BSF) launched a joint operation along the Indo-Bhutan border on Thursday evening.

According to reports, a group of militants moved in two-three motorcycles came into the striking zone of the ambush team. When stopped and asked to surrender, the extremists attacked the team, following which the latter counter-attacked on the militants and two of them sustained injuries.

The suspected NDFB militants were immediately rushed to RNB Civil Hospital in Gossaigaon. However, the duo succumbed to their injuries while on their way to the hospital.

The slain militants are yet to be identified.

The team recovered one AK Series Rifle, one AK Magazine, 5 rounds 7.62mm Live ammunition, 14 rounds of 7.62 Fired Cartridge, one Hero Shine Bike and two mobile phones from their possession and PO.

Meanwhile, the search operation is on to nab the other suspected militants who escaped.

A case has been registered in this regard.
