The United Liberation Front of Asom's anti-talks faction has called for a 'Assam bandh' on January 26, the occasion of India's 'Republic Day', reports said.
According to reports, the ULFA has urged the people to protest against the Central Government on the occasion of the country's Republic Day.

The ULFA (I) has also asked the people to stay indoors as a mark of protest and asked motorists not to ply their vehicles on the roads on the occasion of 'Republic Day'.
It is worth mentioning here that the as many as 644 rebels on Thursday laid down their arms in a arms surrender ceremony held at the GMCH auditorium in presence of the Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, 4 days ahead of Republic Day celebrations in the country.

According to official reports, 50 cadres of the United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent), 8 cadres of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland, 6 cadres of the Kamatapur Liberation Organization, 13 cadres of the Rava National Liberation Front, 1 cadre of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), 87 cadres of the National Santhal Liberation Army, 178 cadres of the Adivashi Dragon Fighter, and 301 cadres of the National Liberation Front of Bengal laid down their arms in a glittering ceremony attended by several dignitaries.
