Assam: ULFA (I) Cadres Arrested in Tinsukia

Tinsukia, November 27, 2019:

Tinsukia Police have arrested two United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA- I) cadres on Tuesday.

A joint operation of Tinsukia Police department and paramilitary forces was conducted on Tuesday in Assam’s Jorhat district, which was led by Superintendent of Police, Tinsukia, Nilesh T Sawakare.

The team arrested two ULFA cadres, namely, Tutu Borah, aged 25, and Juman Borah, aged 21. The two are reportedly from Doomdooma and Chinamora areas, respectively.

Earlier, on Monday, an ULFA cadre, Dimpal Baruah, surrendered in Tinsukia district. A joint search operation conducted by the Police and paramilitary forces resulted in the arrest of Baruah in Jagun area. A pistol and four rounds of live ammunition were also recovered from the ultra.

It may be mentioned here that as many as eight ULFA cadres had surrendered in Tinsukia, recently. Among those surrendered were self- styled- Second LT Pabitro Asom alias Phamen Moran of Kakopathar, Corporal Aluk Asom alias Mintu Moran of Kakopathar, Lance corporal Merchant Asom alias Pranjit Moran Baghjan and Lance corporal Abon Asom alias Rajib Moran of Dum Duma.

The joint team had recovered four AK series Rifles (two MQ 81 and two AK 56), 275 Live rounds cartridges, 9 Magazine and one hand-grenade from them.
