In a search operation carried out by Indian Army from 14 Rajput Regiment and Army Intelligence, an ULFA(I) linkman was nabbed in Tinsukia district of Assam on Saturday night.
Rohini Mohan has been sending extortion notes to Traders and Tea Planters since quite some time which created an atmosphere of panic across the Phaneng village of the district.
According to sources, Mohan demanded a sum of Rs 20,000 from a small tea grower and further threatened that on failing to pay the amount, he will blast his house with grenade. After the threatening, the victim’s family lodged an FIR at Lekhapani Police Station.
From that tip, Indian Army from 14 Rajput Regiment and Army Intelligence carried out an operation and nabbed Mohan from Phaneng village.
Mohan has been sent to judicial custody.
