Another tragic incident has been reported from Assam as a vehicle carrying passengers from Upper Assam’s Golaghat, who were headed back to Boko after attending NRC hearings, met with an accident at Sonapur on Monday night, August 5.
As many as 22 people have been injured in the incident, including the driver of the vehicle. It is to be mentioned that two families were travelling in the vehicle who were returning home after attending an NRC hearing in Golaghat.
Reportedly, the vehicle hit the divider of the road. At least five people have been gravely injured and have been admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
It is worth mentioning that this is the second such incident in as many days, as earlier, a vehicle carrying Assam villagers from Hajo’s Suntoli Village who were headed to Upper Assam for NRC hearings, met with an accident at Khanapara in Guwahati city on Sunday.
Chaygaon MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed lamented the plight of the villagers, while criticizing the current BJP administration in the State. “Nobody should be harassed like this. People will never feel sympathy for other people and will only realize their faults once things like these start happening to them.”
