CM Sonowal and BJP president Ranjit das meets Hiren Gohain on the pretext to accumulate feedback on the workings of the government.

At a time when the anguish among the people regarding the citizenship has reached apex, the political developments across the state is a witness to new turns everytime. A familiar scene was witnessed when CM Sonowal along with Ranjit Das went all the way to Hiren Gohain's house. Hiren Gohain a pivotal persona, considered a social scientist has been protesting the bill day in and day out.

CM Sonowal asked the legendary persona about his feedback on the developmental activities of the government. However Gohain clearly stated that he wasnt happy as the people have barely tasted the fruits of success be it GST, Demonitization, etc which has hammered the people rather than prosperity.

A statement that needs to be put under the scanner is the statement made by Gohain about the decrease in Hindu population in Bangladesh which did drew all the attention. The Statistics of the General Census of Bangladesh states that the Hindu community constituted 13% of the population in the year 1974 which drastically reduced to 8% . Gohain did place his point outright about such an establishment which places direct impact on the population of Assam. Gohain also placing statics voiced his concern about raise in number of Bengali Speaking public in Assam.

However Gohain has to say that the government wasn't convinced enough about the burning issue of Hindi Bangladedhis in the state to include it in the list of priorities.

Thus such proceedings and statements ahead of the NRC publication provides a perplexing discourse all together. The Jatinayak has once again somewhere chose the lame way out in regard of the Citizen
