Dhubri: The people of Dhubri are worried as the water level of the Brahmaputra river in the district surpasses the danger level of 28.62 metres.

According to Moferjal Sarkar, Project Officer, Dhubri District Disaster Management Department, the water level of the Gaurang, Gangadhar, Tipkai, Champawati, Manas and Aie rivers is slightly submerged.

The rise in the Brahmaputra river's water level has flooded many villages in the district. In many areas, the swollen river submerged houses and agricultural lands.

The District Disaster Management Department has ensured that boats escorting essential goods are not overloaded and residents of riverine areas do not allow their children to play near the river.

According to reports, the District Inland Water Transport Department has prohibited the movement of passenger carrying boats on the Brahmaputra River.
