ASSAM: YET ANOTHER ATTEMPT OF RAPE IN THE STATE

Social Upheaval takes a toll in the state

Cases of rape and sexual assault on women has become a feature of Assam in the recent times. Two girls were attempted to be raped by four youths today. The youths have been identified as Suman Mazumdar, Kamal Boro, Ridip Talukdar and Bikash Phukan. According to the complainants, the youths allegedly broke into the girls’ residence at around 12.45 am. After a few unsuccessful attempts to rape the girls, they tried to hold them by the neck.

When the correspondent of Insidene had a word with the brother of one of the gjrls, he narrated how this outrageous incident took place. He also told about how the girls managed to escape.

An FIR was lodged in the Bhagadatta police outpost but later transferred to the Dispur police station. The police of the Bhagadatta outpost informed the correspondent of Insidene that Bikash Phukan was also involved in a murder case last year.

Time and again such incidents are occurring in the state which has left the people to lose their faith o n the Police of the state.
