DISPUR: After a series of discussions and deliberations, Assam officials has come to the conclusion that the 10th and 12th boards will be conducted by the state government's boards despite a continuing surge in the number of COVID19 cases in the second stage.
This was reportedly decided upon during a meeting attended by top officials of the education as well as health departments.
B Kalyan Bhakravorthy, the principal-secretary of the Board of Secondary Education, Assam was also in attendance.
According to reports, the exams will be held from August 1-15 later this year.
Apparently, the government has taken this decision as students "cannot afford to lose the year."

Meanwhile, initial reports seem to point to the fact that the government will increase the number of examination centres to enable students to 'social distance.'
Reportedly, the government intends to wrap up the examinations within a 3-day period. Additionally, the government is reportedly mulling holding exams for only 3 subjects.
A concrete decision in this regard will reportedly be taken in the next 10 days or so.
Meanwhile, over one million Twitterati have joined a campaign on Twitter since Sunday, appealing for the cancellation of Assam Class X and XII board exams with #CancelAssamBoardExams.
The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) supported the campaign and posted a tweet.
The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee wrote to chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma urging him to support the campaign.
Meanwhile, the Central government has cancelled the 10th and 12th board exams for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in view of the rising coronavirus cases across the country. Now, students across the country will be graded on the basis of 'internal assessment.'
