Assam's COVID-19 death tally crosses 2300 mark with 73 new fatalities in 24 hours

GUWAHATI: A total of 73 people infected with the deadly COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

With the new fatalities being reported during the period, the death toll of COVID-19 has touched 2,344.

Of the total new fatalities, Kamrup Metro reported 16 deaths, followed by  Kamrup Rural (7), Sonitpur (5), Darrang (3), Cachar (6), Dibrugarh (6), Hailakandi (2). Barpeta (4), Nagaon (3), Baksa (2), Lakhimpur (2), Udalguri (2), Golaghat (2), Biswanath (1), Hojai (5), Jorhat (1), Bongaigaon (2), Goalpara (1), Karbi Anglong (1), and Morigaon (1).

The death rate of the state is now at 0.69 per cent.

On the other hand, the state also reported 5,835 new cases of the novel Coronavirus during the period, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 3,40,858.

Assam currently has 46,393 active cases of COVID-19.

A total of 2,90,774 patients have so far been recovered from the infection in the state with 4,311 recoveries being reported during the day.

The positivity rate in the state is now 6.47 per cent.
