GUWAHATI: As many as 2,534 people recovered from COVID-19 infection in Assam yesterday, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 2,34,237.
The recovery rate in the state currently stands at 88.91 per cent.
On the other hand, 4,489 more people tested positive for COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, pushing the tally in the state to 2,63,450.
The positivity rate now stands at 8.02 per cent.
Assam recorded 29 COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 1,389.
Of the new cases, Kamrup (M) reported 1,645 cases, followed by Dibrugarh 460, Kamrup 239, Nagaon 201 and Nalbari 201.
The deaths reported during the period include 13 from Kamrup (M), Dibrugarh four, Karimganj three, Udalguri two and Bongaigaon, Cachar, Goalpara, Kamrup, Nalbari, Sonitpur and Tinsukia districts one each. The current death rate is 0.53 per cent.
The state currently has 26,477 active COVID-19 cases.

The new cases were detected out of the 55,939 tests conducted yesterday. The cumulative total of COVID-19 tests conducted in Assam so far is 87,38,694.
A total of 26,69,984 people have been administered with COVID-19 vaccines in the state so far.
While 20,92,307 of them have received the first dose, 5,77,677 have received both the doses of the vaccine.
