GUWAHATI: Assam Sankhyalaghu Sangram Parishad’s (ASSP) President Muhammad Ali Khalifa received death threats on Thursday evening via WhatsApp.
The threats were sent from a number 9746983038.
Khalifa revealed that the sender claimed himself to be a contract killer who was hired by someone in Nagaon district to kill him
"The sender said that he has been paid an amount of Rs 10 Lakh to kill me. I continued chatting to get more information", informed Khalifa.
The sender warned Khalifa to not raise his voice against one of the former leader of All Assam Minority Students' Union (AAMSU).
"I am ready to kill you", the sender wrote in one of the texts.
"The sender sent several messages and said things that have disturbed me mentally", added Khalifa, a resident of Dhalgaon.
Along with Khalifa, the sender warned to kill two more persons including the former General secretary of the organization and has warned them to remain cautious all the time as the attack can be made anytime.
The president of the organization has lodged an FIR at Dhalgaon police station and urged the police to investigate the matter.
