MUMBAI: Great news for the patients for Assam who are going to Mumbai for their treatment. The Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) has now introduced a fully air-conditioned Bharat Benz Bus to transport cancer patients from Assam Bhawan Mumbai to Tata Memorial hospital and other cancer treatment centers located in Mumbai.
"As per the declaration of The Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal and the Hon’ble Transport Minister Shri Chandra Mohan Patowari to empower and support patients from Assam going to Mumbai for treatment of cancer, the Assam State Transport Corporation has donated a fully air conditioned Bharat Benz Bus to transport cancer patients from Assam Bhawan Mumbai to Tata Memorial hospital and other cancer treatment centres located in Mumbai," Devasish Sharma, the Joint Resident Commissioner of the Assam Bhavan, stated.

The ASTC bus service was inaugurated today by Ashok Kumar Bhattarai, the Chairman of ASTC in presence of the members of Assam Association led by its president Dr. Jyotirmoy Das, cancer patients undergoing treatment alongwith the officers, and staff of Assam Bhawan Mumbai.
"The bus service which shall be run absolutely free of cost will be mantained and sponsored by Deepsikha Foundation," Sharma added.
