ASTC Introduces "Uberization" Scheme with 25% Subsidy for Beneficiaries

Guwahati, February 21, 2020:

The Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) has brought forth a new scheme called Uberization in order to attract beneficiaries and budding entrepreneurs and strengthen the transport sector of the state.

Uberization is ready to provide the beneficiaries with a slew of incentives for the beneficiaries. ASTC Chairperson, Ashok Kumar Bhattarai said, “Rs 70 crore has been allotted under the Uberization scheme. Out of this, 20 crore rupees have been allotted for renovation of bus stops. Public toilets will also be built in the bus stops for convenience of the public. ­­­The rest 50 crore rupees will be used to purchase buses.”

While addressing the media persons here, he added, “678 new buses will be included in the ASTC under Uberization. The applicants of this scheme can visit the official website, www.assam.gov.in and apply for the same. The last date of application is February 29.”

ASTC’s new scheme will additionally provide 25 percent subsidy to the beneficiaries, out of which, ten percent will be completely free. “The rest 15 percent can be repaid within a span of five years with no interest rates,” he informed.

For detailed terms and conditions of the scheme, the interested applicants can visit www.astc.assam.gov.in. The selection of beneficiaries has been reported to be on a first-come-first-serve basis.
