Following Wednesday’s mechanized boat mishap in the Brahmaputra in Guwahati and the resultant suspension of service of such boats, the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) has increased the number of its buses on Guwahati-North Guwahati route for the benefit of commuters.
According to official sources, the ASTC is now running ten buses from Rajaduwar of North Guwahati to Kachari in Guwahati. Earlier, only two buses plied on the route as people mostly preferred to travel by mechanized country boats (bhutbhuti) to buses between North Guwahati and Guwahati.
It may be mentioned that three people had died in the boat mishap. Several others were believed to be missing.
