Veteran Congressman and 3-time former Chief Minister of Assam recently raised the demand of a State Government’s Award to 'Sadin Pratidin' group owner Jayanta Baruah for his dedicated service in the field of media.

The was informed by Gogoi through a tweet by Gogoi after he had attended the award ceremony of the 'Achiever's Awards 2019' organised by 'Sadin Pratidin' group, one of the leading media houses in the Northeast Indian region.
In his tweet, Gogoi mentioned, “While I was having a tea with Hon'ble Governor, CM, his Cabinet colleges and the Press Adviser, I was telling that Jayanta Baruah should be awarded for his dedicated service in the field of media and for his achievement in establishing the Sadin Pratidin group to such a height.”

Gogoi also posted photographs of the event and expressed deep satisfaction in attending the event.
It may be mentioned here that Jayanta Baruah and 'Asomiya Pratidin', the largest circulated daily in Assam, had been awarded by then Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, in 2008 for the outstanding contribution of vernacular daily. Indian Language Newspapers Association (ILNA) hosted this award.
