GUWAHATI: Ayanna Williams from Texas, USA, has finally cut record-breaking fingernails after nearly 30 years.

In 2017, Houston's Ayanna Williams set the Guinness World Record for the world's longest fingernails, which measured nearly 19 feet long.

Her manicure used to take more than 20 hours and two bottles of nail polish.

She took one last measurement before having them cut over the weekend: 24 ft, 0.7 in. Over the course of a few days, the manicure required three to four bottles of nail polish.

Williams completed the assignment at a dermatology clinic in Fort Worth, Texas, where she received her first nail cut since the early 1990s using an electric rotary tool.

“With or without my nails, I will still be the queen. My nails don’t make me, I make my nails!,” she said.

"It’s time for new beginnings: Ayanna Williams cuts her record-breaking fingernails," Guinness World Record tweeted.

Williams had been unable to perform tasks such as washing dishes and making a bed, before now.

Her new mission, she said, is to inspire the next nail enthusiast to attempt a Guinness World Records title.

Lee Redmond, who began growing her fingernails in 1979, still holds the record for the longest fingernails ever on a pair of female hands.

According to Guinness World Records, they reached a length of 28 feet before Redmond lost them in a car accident in 2009.
