Bandh called by 46 organizations seems successful

Guwahati, October 23, 2018:

The 12 hrs total shut down by the 46 organizations in Assam seems to be successful as the people from all the districts of the state are supporting the bandh called on Tuesday.

The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) along others organizations have called the bandh to protest the meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) with the Ministries of Home and External Affairs over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

Although the government has given out strict orders to the government employees to report for duty, the attendance is thin. Also it was directed to the traders to keep shops and business establishments open; failing which their trade licences will be cancelled, the people didn’t give any response to it rather the people are supporting the bandh saying it to be a rightful act to protect the rights if the indigenous people of Assam.

As per the state government direction police has arrested many of the bandh supporters across the state.
