The Grand Opening of New Campus of Shalom Bible College (SBC) under Lower Assam Baptist Union (consist of four associations – Boro, Garo, Rabha, and Uraon) was held at LABU Campus in Kodomtola of Kokrajhar that is attached to the Kokrajhar Town Baptist Church.
The opening of the SBC campus was done by Khiren Borgoary, Ex. MLA and President of BCB followed by Hostel and College opening by Prosenjit Basumatary, President, LABU and General Secretary, BBCA and Nobin Basumatary, President of BBCA.
Addressing the media, Ajit Basumatary, Principal of Shalom Bible College Kokrajhar said that the Shalom Bible College was started on 6th October 1998 at Tukrajhar mission compound with four students, Rimal Hajoary, Rinkang Basumatary, Philje Sangma and Roslyn Rabha. Now, as many as 54 students have been pursuing their education in different courses and 25 new students are going to take admission to this new academic session.
Prosenjit Basumatary president of LABU and General Secretary of the BBCA (Boro Baptist Church Association) said that Shalom Bible College has been guiding by the LABU and this time full-time SBC has been shifted to our own LABU’s campus in Kokrajhar.
He said that after that worship service was held at Kokrajhar Town Baptist Church led by Rev. Ajit Basumatary, Principal of SBC and Holy Words of God was shared by Rev. Adjen Borgoary, Former President of BBCA. In that program, about 300 church leaders from four associations under LABU came from different regions and also other invited guests were present.
