BATADRABA RAPE AND MURDER CASE MAIN ACCUSED ARRESTED

The main accused in the Batadraba rape and murder case Jakir Hussain has finally been arrested by Nagaon police. Jakir was arrested by a special team of Police from Itapara area in Nagaon district. Sleuths of Nagaon Police started tracking his mobile calls who had been evading arrest since the day of crime. He was tracked down at Itapara when he had made a phone call to one of his relative.

It may be mentioned that a 13 year old class 5 student was allegedly gang-raped and set ablaze by pouring kerosene on Friday by a group of three youths at Dhaniabheti Lalung Gaon under Batadraba police station in Nagaon district. Though she was admitted to the Nagaon Civil Hospital initially, she died on the way to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital. Police have already arrested the two juveniles immediately after the crime.

Villagers of Lalung Gaon on Saturday vandalised Jakir’s house and blocked road in protest against the heinous crime demanding justice to the victim. Jakir would be produced at Nagaon court later today.
