The All Assam Bengali Youth Students’ Federation (AABYSF) has claimed that certain organisations are using false objections against many people from the Bengali community ahead of inclusion in the draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC).
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, the leaders of the student organisation demanded a fair NRC to be published.

Kamal Choudhury, president of AABYSF stated that, they want an error-free NRC. Filing objection and claim is part of the citizens register updation exercise. However, the majority of the people who file objections do not show up on the date of hearing. Bengali people, who are bonafide citizens of India, are being harassed in the name of NRC, he said.
“Bengali people are being particularly targeted and sent to detention centres. Illiterate and poverty-stricken Bengalis are being used as mere vote banks,” added Choudhury.
The leaders of the student organisation further stated that stated that just like Badaruddin Ajmal stood for his own community and opened his own political party, they too shall do the same for their own people.
It may also be mentioned that the student leaders lashed out at Hojai MLA Shiladitya Dev staying mum on the issue and urged him to come to the streets and protest.
The AABYSF president also urged Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and the intellectual society of the state to take look into the matter and take measures to protect the Bengali community people living in the State.
