Bhupen Da’s family expresses gratitude over ‘Bharat Ratna’ award

Guwahati, January 26, 2019:

The family of Assam cultural icon Bhupen Hazarika started coming forward to express their gratitude to the Government of India after the maestro was being conferred the highest civilian award, that is, the ‘Bharat Ratna’ award on the eve of India’s 70th Republic Day.

Speaking on the occasion, nephew of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and son of Samar Hazarika, Dawor Hazarika said, “We feel blessed because of this the news. It has been a great privilege to address this on behalf of the family, Assam and North East that his contribution has been recognized. That is what makes us proud of him. We accept it with much gratitude and thank the Government of India for conferring this to my Bordeuta.”

“I thank all for supporting Dr. Bhupen Hazarika as he represented the entire Assamese culture, history, society, and creation”, he added.
