GOLAGHAT: Bidyananda Barkakoty has been unanimously elected as the adviser of the North Eastern Tea Association (NETA) for the term 2021-23.
He was elected in a general body meeting of the association held today at NETA headquarters at Golaghat.
He has been elected for the fourth consecutive term as Adviser.
A highly experienced man in tea, Barkakoty previously served as Chairman of NETA for three years (2009-2015) and Vice Chairman for three terms (2009-2015). (2003-2009).
In the Golaghat district, he is a partner in Mahalaxmi Tea Estate and Nandapur Tea Estate, and a producer of high-quality green tea.

Barkakoty is considered the face of the Assam tea industry and is a former Vice Chairman of Tea Board India.
NETA, established in 1981, is a tea producers' association having composite tea estates, bought tea leaf factories and tea gardens under its membership fold.
It has total of 163 members spread over Assam, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh, representing tea made of around 102 million kgs of Tea.
NETA is a constituent member of the Consultative Committee of Plantations Associations (CCPA), the umbrella body of tea producers of our country.
